Bull Elk Hunts Across Multiple Units
Guided elk hunts here take place across roughly 600,000 acres of National Forest permit area in the Colorado high country, plus thousands of additional acres of private land for hunters who’d rather chase bulls without the altitude. They offer both remote national forest base camps reached by truck, high-country horseback hunts staged near timberline, and private land hunts run out of a cabin for a more comfortable setup.
The majority of hunts are centered near Buana Vista, Colorado hunting units 48, 56, 57, 481, and 561.
Mule Deer Hunts
The same operation runs some of the most consistent mule deer hunting in the region with multiple trophy class deer harvested during the early archery and later rifle seasons. Hunters looking for a true trophy opportunity will find limited competition and guides who scout these herds year-round.
A Day in Camp
Hunt days start two hours before sunrise with coffee and a light breakfast, then move into the morning hunt, a trail lunch, and a midday rest before animals start moving again toward evening feeding areas. Every camp comes with a cook, hearty meals, and hardworking guides who handle trophy care once an animal is down, so hunters can focus entirely on the hunt itself.
Booking and Preparation
Both elk and mule deer tags can be drawn through the spring license process, with some elk tags available over the counter. Most units can be drawn with 1-5 points depending on the season. DIY camp setups are also available for hunters who want the backcountry experience without a full guide service.
