The King of the Coast Range

Roosevelt elk are the largest of the North American elk subspecies, and southwestern Oregon is where some of the best bulls on the continent live. Bull quality runs well into the 300-inch class, with exceptional animals making the record book each season. Blacktail deer share the same country, and while they don’t get the national press that mule deer and whitetails do, hunters who have chased mature bucks through the coastal timber know exactly how special they are.

Jungle Hunting at Its Finest

This is not the wide-open glassing game of the Rocky Mountain West. Dense second-growth timber, fern-covered benches, and clearcuts define the landscape — country that swallows sound and visibility and demands patience from every hunter who steps into it. Guides work a combination of calling, spot-and-stalk, and setups built around months of preseason scouting. Roosevelt bulls are highly callable during the rut, and the guides here know exactly when and where to be.

Rut-Timed Blacktail Hunts

Blacktail hunts are timed deliberately around the rut, when mature bucks that would otherwise be nearly impossible to pattern start making mistakes. It’s the right time to be in the field, and the guides have the experience to take full advantage of that window.

Tags and Access

Archery elk tags are over the counter, and the operation also holds allocated tags for rifle hunters who want to skip the draw. Blacktail tags are held by the outfitter. You book the hunt and go.
