Alaska Coastal Brown Bear Hunt
Based out of Sandpoint on the Alaska Peninsula, this hunt focuses on big brown bears, averaging over 9.5 feet each year. Hunters stay in comfortable cabins, either at the main base camp or in smaller spike cabins. The outfitter is hardworking and experienced, ensuring a top-quality experience. Because of this, it is highly recommended for hunters seeking really large bears. Hunts occur in the fall of odd-numbered years and spring of even-numbered years. Additionally, hunters are allowed to stay the entire season if needed to harvest their dream bear.
Alaskan Grizzly Bear & Caribou Combination Hunt
This combo hunt in the Alaska Range, north of Anchorage, offers both grizzly bear and barren ground caribou opportunities. Caribou prefer treeless tundra and mountain terrain, and the season runs from August 10th to September 30th. Early in the season, bulls are in velvet, becoming hard-horned by September. While planes are used to reach the caribou, hunters should be ready to walk two to three miles daily over uneven ground.
At $19,500, the package covers both hunts and the charter flight to camp. This area allows a two-bear limit, and fishing for salmon, rainbow trout, and dollies is also available. Interestingly, Alaska permits harvesting lesser-valued animals on a higher-value animal’s tag. For example, a hunter carrying two grizzly tags can take two grizzlies, a grizzly and a caribou, or a grizzly and a black bear. Overall, this is a once-in-a-lifetime hunt at an incredible price point.
Alaska Talkeetna Range Grizzly Bear Hunt
These spring and fall hunts use snowmachines (spring only), horseback, and ATVs. Snowmachine hunts occur near denning areas, ambushing bears as they leave their winter dens or a recent moose kill. Fall hunts focus on glassing until the right bear is located. Cabin accommodations are standard, with wall tents used if necessary. Fall horseback hunts are rare in Alaska and provide a unique experience. The outfitter is an Alaska Master Guide, and this area reliably produces a bear every year.
