A Once-a-Year Late Summer Phenomenon
During late summer, black bears move into cactus-covered terrain to feed heavily on the ripe fruit of the prickly pear cactus. As a result, hunters often glass bears actively feeding in open country. On occasion, it is not uncommon to see 15 or more bears in a single day during this brief and highly productive window. Consequently, timing is critical, and early booking is strongly recommended.
Spot-and-Stalk Hunting With Big Optics
These hunts are conducted using spot-and-stalk techniques that closely resemble Coues deer hunting. Therefore, big optics, patience, and the ability to glass vast, remote country are key to success.
