Wyoming – Black Bear Hunting in the Wyoming Wilderness

Color phase bears are common in the area.
Wyoming Black Bear Hunting

Spring bear hunts in Wyoming run from May 15th to June 5th or until the quota fills. Hunters pursue bears over established baits with rifles in the mountains. Color-phase bears are common, and big bruins are especially active in late May while searching for sows. Additionally, the area is abundant with elk and moose, offering spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities.

Fall Hunts & Bear Behavior

Fall hunts take place from September 1–4 in the mountains at the elk camp, again over established baits. During this time, bears grow long, even coats in preparation for winter. With a 75% hunter success rate, these hunts provide excellent opportunities for mature black bears. Furthermore, the combination of fall colors and wildlife activity makes this season particularly memorable.

Comfortable Accommodations

During your stay, you will lodge in a modern log hunting cabin with all the comforts of home. Spring weather in the Bighorn Mountains can be unpredictable, so returning to a warm cabin and hot shower at the end of the day adds to the comfort and enjoyment of your hunting experience. Overall, this Wyoming black bear hunt offers a balanced combination of challenging hunting and relaxation in the mountains.
