This hunt takes place exclusively on public land throughout the month of May, offering hunters a fair-chase, highly active hunting experience. It’s an ideal challenge for hunters who value woodsmanship, patience, and the thrill of locating bears through glassing and ground pursuit.
License Requirements & Important Dates
Before participating, every hunter must successfully complete the Montana FWP Bear Identification Test, ensuring responsible and accurate bear identification in the field.
The special license application deadline is April 15th. Hunters are encouraged to apply early and ensure all state requirements are completed in advance.
