Yukon Territory Grizzly Bear Hunt Overview
A Yukon Territory Grizzly Bear Hunt offers two very distinct and exciting seasonal experiences, each providing exceptional opportunities in some of the North’s most remote wilderness. Because of minimal pressure and vast habitat, these grizzlies follow natural feeding patterns that make both spring and fall hunts highly productive.
Spring River Hunts & Mobile Camps
In the spring, grizzly hunts are conducted by jet boat, traveling river systems while operating from a mobile tent camp. During this time of year, bears are commonly found along shorelines and open hillsides. After long winters, they actively search for winter-kill carcasses or fresh green vegetation as it begins to emerge. As spring progresses, bears may also target newly born moose calves. Consequently, spring hunts offer constant glassing opportunities and dynamic daily movement.
Fall Hunts in the High Country
Fall grizzly hunts are structured as 11-day adventures and are conducted using horseback, Argo, and backpack methods. One of the outfitter’s most popular dates is August 25th, when berry crops peak and lush alpine grass becomes a key food source. At this stage, bears spend significant time feeding in high-country alpine terrain. As fall continues, however, grizzlies shift their focus to big-game animals, working to build fat reserves before winter sets in.
Seasonal Strategy & Exceptional Opportunity
Each season presents a different challenge and reward. While spring hunts emphasize river systems and emerging food sources, fall hunts focus on alpine feeding patterns and big-game activity. Ultimately, a Yukon Territory Grizzly Bear Hunt delivers variety, strategy, and excitement—regardless of the season chosen.
If you’re ready to experience one of the North’s most authentic grizzly adventures, now is the time to start planning.
