Hunt Location & Units
Hunts are based in several areas with outfitter allocated tags in the Ochoco, Millia River, Starkey, and Desolation Wilderness Units. These are public land hunts in limited draw units where the outfitter and guides have spent the carrier learning how and where to hunt these bulls.
These hunts are based out of road accessible wall tent camps with the option to spike out to more remote areas if desired.
Preparation & Strategy
The outfitter spends the summer scouting and running trail cameras to give you the best chance at harvesting an elk. During archery season, both calling and spot and stalk techniques might be utilized. Hunting strategic wallows with high elk traffic in September can prove effective as well. Rifle elk hunts are spot and stalk.
Trophy Expectations
These units all produce trophy class bulls every season. Being in good physical shape will give you the best chance at harvesting a mature bull on you hunt. While harvesting a mature bull is the goal, this is a public land hunt and any branch antlered bull should be considered a success depending on conditions.
