CEO, Shoshone Adventure Consulting
From Trusted Relationships to Modern Adventure Planning
Since 1987, Shoshone Adventure Consulting has helped hunters, anglers, and adventure travelers connect with trusted outfitters around the world. The company was originally founded, owned, and operated by John Andre, with an early focus on connecting sportsmen with top-tier guides for Rocky Mountain and Roosevelt elk hunts throughout the United States and Canada. From the beginning, Shoshone was built on relationships, reputation, and a deep understanding of what clients need when planning a successful trip. In those early years, the booking process looked very different than it does today. Communication was slower, information was shared through printed newsletters, invoices were mailed, and checks were often sent by traditional mail. Even with those limitations, Shoshone earned trust by helping clients sort through opportunities, ask the right questions, and book with confidence.
As Shoshone grew, the company expanded well beyond its original elk hunting foundation. What began with Rocky Mountain and Roosevelt elk opportunities gradually developed into a broader network of trusted outfitters and destinations, including African safaris, Alaskan moose expeditions, international fishing trips, and other carefully selected outdoor experiences around the world. That growth happened over time, built on personal relationships, field knowledge, and a commitment to finding dependable opportunities for clients.
One of the things that has always separated Shoshone from a simple booking agency is its commitment to real-world vetting. Rather than relying only on brochures, marketing claims, or secondhand reports, the Shoshone team has built its recommendations through personal experience, outfitter relationships, and ongoing monitoring of annual harvest rates and client results. Experienced consultants bring firsthand knowledge to the process, helping clients understand not only where to go, but why a particular outfitter, area, or hunt may be the right fit.
FEATURED ADVENTURES

As technology evolved, so did the way outdoor adventures were researched, promoted, and booked. What once required printed mailers, phone calls, and mailed invoices gradually shifted into large-scale email communication, modern websites, online inquiry forms, digital marketing, and automated banking tools. Clients no longer have to wait for brochures to arrive in the mailbox or send payments by check through the mail. In recent years, Shoshone has continued expanding its digital footprint by improving its online booking and consultation infrastructure, while also using podcast and video content to share worldwide hunt stories and trip-planning advice. Today, information can be shared quickly, deposits and balances can be managed more efficiently, and the entire planning process can move faster while still keeping the personal service that has always made Shoshone different.
After the company was purchased by its current owners, Jay Roberts and Johnathan Roberts, Shoshone entered a new chapter. Their goal was not to change the foundation that made the company successful, but to streamline the process and build on it. They recognized that clients still value honest advice, experienced consultants, and vetted outfitters, but they also expect quick communication, clear information, and a smoother booking experience from start to finish.
Under their leadership, Shoshone has continued moving into the future through expanded digital outreach, a growing YouTube presence, television opportunities, and a broader worldwide booking network. The company has also taken an important step into outfitting directly. After decades of connecting clients with trusted operations owned by others, Shoshone opened its own fully owned outfitting branch, Shoshone Prairie Adventures, in south-central Kansas, offering whitetail, waterfowl, and upland bird hunting. The larger vision is simple: make it easier for clients to discover quality adventures, understand their options, and book trips with confidence, while giving outfitters and destinations a trusted platform to reach serious sportsmen and travelers.
This article is intended to explain how the Shoshone booking process works today, why that process matters, and how each step is designed to protect the client’s time, investment, and overall experience. From the first conversation to the final details before departure, the goal remains the same: connect people with the right adventure, through the right outfitter, with the right expectations in place.

The Shoshone Three-Step Booking Process
Step 1: Connect With Us
The first step is simple: start a conversation. Clients can connect with Shoshone in the way that is most convenient for them, whether that means calling us directly, sending an email through our website, reaching out by direct message on Instagram or Facebook, or using the live admin chat assistant to communicate with CEO Peyton Merideth. The goal is to make the first point of contact fast, easy, and personal.
We understand that when someone is researching a hunt, they often have immediate questions about availability, pricing, dates, travel, trophy expectations, and whether a particular opportunity is truly the right fit. Shoshone’s process is designed to give potential clients quick feedback so they are not left waiting on returned calls or delayed responses. From the first message, our team works to understand what the client is looking for and point them in the right direction as quickly as possible.
Step 2: Get Clear Information
Once we understand the client’s goals, the next step is gathering the right information and narrowing the options. Every hunter or traveler has different priorities, so we take time to learn what matters most. That may include the type of hunt, preferred destination, available dates, budget, physical expectations, group size, desired animal quality, trophy goals, and any travel or family considerations that may affect the trip.
From there, Shoshone helps match the client with opportunities that fit those needs instead of forcing every client into the same hunt. We explain what is realistic, what makes each outfitter or destination different, and what questions should be asked before a deposit is placed. If a client wants to speak directly with an outfitter, we can help make that connection as well. We do not believe in hiding outfitter names or playing “hide the ball.” Clear expectations create better trips, and clients deserve to know who they are booking with, what they are paying for, and what kind of experience they should expect.
Step 3: Book With Confidence
After the client has selected the right opportunity and is ready to move forward, Shoshone makes the booking process secure, organized, and efficient. Instead of relying on mailed invoices, paper checks, or scattered communication, clients can book through our automated online system. This allows deposits and payments to be handled more smoothly while keeping important booking details in one clear process.
Booking with confidence also means knowing that Shoshone remains involved after the initial deposit. Our role is to help protect the client’s time and investment by confirming details, communicating expectations, and helping make sure everyone is on the same page before the trip begins. From the first inquiry to the final preparation, the purpose of the Shoshone booking process is to combine old-fashioned trust with modern convenience, giving clients a better way to plan their next adventure.
