Nunavut Caribou and Muskox Combo Hunt Overview
The Nunavut Caribou and Muskox Combo Hunt delivers one of the most remote and rewarding big-game adventures in North America. Based out of Baker Lake, Nunavut—the geographic center of Canada—these hunts begin in late August and take place in a vast, untouched Arctic landscape. Now entering its 20th year of operation, this family-owned outfitter provides hunters with exceptional local knowledge and a highly personalized experience in the field.
Remote Access & Comfortable Arctic Camp
Although the destination is truly remote, logistics are straightforward and well organized. Hunters typically travel through Winnipeg, which is easily accessed by major airlines, before boarding a scheduled commercial flight to Baker Lake. This flight is included in the hunt package. From Baker Lake, civilization ends and the adventure begins. Hunters stay in a comfortable remote camp featuring heated sleeping cabins, hot showers, a kitchen and dining cabin, home-cooked meals, and large, sturdy boats equipped with ATVs for safe and efficient daily travel.
Active Hunting Strategy & Seasonal Movement
Rather than hunting from fixed locations, the outfitter actively pursues game wherever animals are located. As a result, hunters travel by boat and ATV anywhere from 10 to 40 miles per day along shorelines, rivers, and open tundra. During late summer and early fall, both species concentrate near water sources, which significantly improves visibility and stalking opportunities.
Trophy Quality & Species Diversity
This region is home to barren-ground muskox, which are approximately 10–15% larger than island populations. Consequently, more than 80% of harvested muskox meet or exceed Boone & Crockett minimum requirements. In addition, three major Central Barren Ground Caribou herds migrate through the area, creating consistent opportunities for high-quality caribou bulls.
Experienced Guides & Limited Availability
All hunts are led by experienced, handpicked guides under direct oversight of the outfitter. With nearly two decades of Arctic outfitting experience, the team focuses on safety, success, and attention to detail. Because of the remote nature of the hunt, availability is limited to just 30 hunters per season.
Trophy Care & Meat Transport
After a successful harvest, guides field prepare trophies to the hunter’s specifications and debone meat. While hunters may take meat home, most choose to transport approximately 50 pounds of premium cuts due to airline freight limitations.
Ultimately, the Nunavut Caribou and Muskox Combo Hunt offers true Arctic wilderness, exceptional trophy quality, and a meticulously managed experience for serious northern big-game hunters.
