This is likely the one of best, if not, the best Yukon-Alaska Moose hunt in the Yukon Territory. This premier outfitter offers traditional horseback hunts for Moose. Horseback hunts allow this outfitter and hunters to venture into remote areas where they have harvested some remarkable moose with mature bulls averaging 58″-60″, although they have also taken trophies measuring in the 70″ range. In 2023, this outfitter went 8/9 on moose hunts with the average being 62”. They have a 95% success rate and it is quite common to harvest another animal with their moose hunts. A Moose-Caribou or Moose-Grizzly combination is quite popular in their area. Tags for all the animals are included in the hunt price. Harvest fees are extra for any additional animals harvested. Their typical Moose hunting terrain is mountainous with wide treed valleys, lots of high willow ridges, muskeg and small ponds. They have several comfortable camps with cabins throughout the area, but be prepared to travel with a spike camp. They use Beckel canvas tents with our traveling hunts. As per Yukon law, each hunter has a designated guide and unless otherwise requested there is only one hunter per camp. This outfitter offers five moose hunt dates per season each lasting 10 full hunting days with a day on each end to allow for travel time in and out of camps. We pick up our hunters at the Dawson City airport and then transport them to camp. August 23rd-Sept 1st The days are becoming shorter and the weather is cooler with a good chance of snow. The Bulls are alone or in bachelor groups and can be found throughout the area from slightly above timberline to the valley bottoms. The Moose lose their velvet around August 25th. September 3rd-12th The Moose are in pre-rut at the start. This outfitter has good luck with this hunt harvesting big Bulls before they herd up with the cows and start to hide. September 14th-23rd The Moose are in full rut during this hunt and respond well to calling. Be prepared for cooler weather and freezing temperatures. September 25th-October 4th By this hunt the Bulls usually have the cows pushed back off the rivers and are found in higher terrain. The Moose start to herd up in October. October 6th-15th During this hunt the outfitter usually harvest Caribou but can harvest a Moose as a second animal. Be prepared for winter conditions during this hunt.
