St. Elias presiding over it all, this is truly a place worth visiting! The Yakutat forelands has some of the finest salmon spawning grounds in the state which support a very strong brown bear population as shown by the length of Alaska’s hunting season from September 1st through May 31st. This outfitter runs 10-Day brown bear hunts in the Spring and Fall. Spring hunts are tent-based and are primarily spot and stalk hunts. These Spring hunts can also be combined with black bear for an additional trophy fee. The Fall Brown Bear hunts are lodge or tent-based and are more up close and personal, as you will hunt in the alder chocked creeks filled with spawning salmon. This have an 80% success rate with their hunts and the average 8 1/2 ft with some bears nearing 10 ft.
