Summer is a wonderful time of year in the Bighorns. Once the snow melts, escape the hot weather of the valley and fly fish for Cutthroat, Brown, Rainbow, Brook and huge Golden Trout in waters above 9500’ elevation. Ride horseback with us into the Cloud Peak Wilderness of the Big Horn National Forest to see the endless beauty of this great ecosystem aboard your well-mannered horse. Activities include trail riding, fly fishing (both lake and stream), hiking, and just plain relaxing. The catch (and release) of the day could be the prized Golden trout, Cutthroat, Brook, Lake, and Rainbow. Our drive-in “glamping” camp is very comfortable and the food is cowboy five stars. Arrive the afternoon of your first day to settle in and enjoy a delicious home-cooked dinner. Spend the rest of the evening around a warm campfire and the company of your hosts. Adventurous riders can take a 2-hour nighttime ride to gaze at the wondrous stars far from the flood of city lights. Spend the next two days exploring the Cloud Peak wilderness on horseback. Rides can range from 45 minutes to all day depending on riders’ abilities and desires. Rides can include stops for photography, wildlife viewing, fishing, and hiking. Picnic lunches will be packed to enjoy in the field each day. Kick off your boots in the evenings, take a hot shower, and enjoy some welcome relaxation… totally unplugged. The last day will start with a sunrise horseback ride and a fresh brunch atop a stunning overlook of Cloud Peak. Return to camp early afternoon to pack up and start making your way back to civilization.
