Wollaston Lake, in northern Saskatchewan Canada has long been known among anglers as one of North America’s premier freshwater fisheries for trophy “Monster” pike and lake trout. In addition to trophy pike and lake trout, guests fishing with this outfitter have the opportunity to catch and release quality walleye and Arctic grayling. Canada’s 13th largest lake, Wollaston Lake covers an area of 1,035 square miles with 883 square miles of water within its boundaries, once you subtract the islands. With a lake this size you’d assume long boat rides to be standard fare. However, when fishing with this outfitter – this assumption would be incorrect. This outfitter is fortunate to be located right in the heart of southern Wollaston Lake, where shallow bays, rocky points and numerous weed beds provide ideal fish habitat – not only for trophy pike, but also for lake trout and walleye. The biggest benefit is NO LONG BOAT RIDES! This translates into more fishing time and less time boat riding as we enjoy some great pike fishing within ten to fifteen minutes from the lodge. As a matter of fact, trophy pike approaching 50 inches have been caught and released in a bay less than a two minute ride from the lodge. Lodge guests aren’t forced to pay additional fees to fly out in order to avoid long, back-pounding, boat rides. With reasonably short boat rides from the lodge to prime fishing locations, guests maximize their fishing opportunities whether they are looking to catch large numbers of fish or hunting for that trophy of a lifetime. Another benefit to guests of this outfitter is limited fishing pressure. This outfitter have intentionally restricted guest capacity to only 20 guests per trip at the main lodge. This ensures guests will receive exceptional personalized service from professional staff and guides. A limited number of guests also represents less fishing pressure and therefore better opportunities to catch and release good numbers of fish as well as trophy quality fish. When it comes to dining, you will start your day off on the right foot with a hot breakfast served in the lodge dining room. A selection of fresh fruit, fruit juices, cold cereal – and a tradition of the north – Red River cereal are available in addition to a traditional full, hot breakfast featuring breakfast meats, eggs, potatoes and toast. There’s nothing tastier than a shore lunch of fresh-caught pike, walleye or lake trout cooked over an open fire in a pristine wilderness setting among the pines. This outfitter has a number of permanent shore lunch spots with tables and fire pits strategically located on Wollaston Lake. The guides are proud of their culinary skills, offering their guests a varied repertoire of fish dishes ranging from traditional fried fillets to stir-fried fish with fresh vegetables. Dinners at the Lodge are a casual affair. Guests can enjoy a pre-dinner drink and swap the day’s fish stories with their buddies in our lounge while whetting their appetite with a variety of appetizers. Appetizers are followed by a delicious three course dinner, prepared by the camp’s chef and served in the lodge dining room by friendly staff. After dinner guests can relax in the lounge or on the lodge’s screened verandah, before heading back to their cabins for a good night’s sleep to prepare for their next day’s adventure on Wollaston Lake.
